Volunteer Retention: The average national volunteer retention rate was 65%. For large cities, the average volunteer retention rate ranged from 43.5% to 75.4%. Buffalo, NY; Jacksonville, FL; New Orleans, LA; Raleigh, NC; and Rochester, NY were not included in the volunteer retention rankings due to sample size issues.
